I've acquired a few of these Berger pieces, very collectible from what I understand. The spelling differs depending on where you read about this kind of piece - Lusterware (Lustreware) - "Lustreware became popular in Staffordshire during the 19th century, where it was also used by Josiah Wedgwood, who introduced pink and white lustreware simulating mother o' pearl effects in dishes and bowls cast in the shapes of shells, and silver lustre, introduced at Wedgwood in 1805"..."These were purely decorative and today command high prices because of their historical connections. Delicate lustre imitating mother-of-pearl was produced by Wedgwood and at Belleek in the mid-century, derived from bismuth nitrate." This particular box is wonderful with the beautiful birds on the top and the transfer printed flowers, as well as the little faux diamonds. These came from a personal collection, one prior owner. I don't see any issues, very rich and delicate looking. It measures 12.5" around the base, 4.75" wide and 5" tall. I can't find an exact age for Berger lusterware, I am just giving you a ballpark. Some say they are 70-80's, some much older. I see a little wear on the inside of the gold rim when you open the box, nothing major at all, but it needs to be mentioned.
