I will admit, I had a little bit of fun researching this bag and it's maker. First I will say it's in excellent condition, considering it's around 100 years old. It has a filigree top frame with a kiss lock, chain drop and fine chain fringe along the bottom. The mesh isn't missing any pieces that I can see, this looks like it was perhaps stored away for years and not abused or possibly even used more than one or so times. The size is 8" long (12.5" with chain drop), 3.25" wide. Now to pass along what I've learned about the purse! Inside is stamped Mandalian Mfg Co. This company was founded by a gentleman named Sahatiel Mandalian who was a Turkish immigrant. The business was opened and based in Massachusetts in 1898. Mr. Mandalian was a competitor of Whiting & Davis, whom we are all familiar with. In fact, it has been said that Mandalian's bags actually outshined Whiting & Davis! When Mandalian closed his doors in the early 1940's, Whiting & Davis acquired all of the company's mesh-making machinery. It is safe to assume that these competitors kept a close watch on each other during the height of popularity of these wonderful mesh bags. The prices of the bags ranged from $4-30 each, which is equivalent today to $55-400. Surely the elite of the times boasted large collections! As for pricing today for these collectible pieces, the more pristine, the better. Please note, domestic shipping includes mandatory insurance. International shipping has to be sent with a method of tracking.
