A very lucky find - and I have more than one! These come from the liquidation of a small family store that closed in the 1980's, after having operated since the early 1900's, by immigrants from Germany. I received these items from the great-great granddaughter of the store's founders, who discovered this treasure trove of never-worn new vintage lingerie sealed in boxes in her parents house, where they'd been saved since the closing of the store in the 1980's. Most of the items are believed to be from the 1930's-1940's. In the 1920's-1930's, a boyish, flat bust line was considered more desirable. The majority of women could only achieve this effect by binding their breasts with a bandeau bra, not to mention that the average person was more petite in those days. These were worn mainly in the early part of the 1920's decade, spilling into the 1930's. The bandeau supported the breasts by compressing them as you can see. These bra styles were constructed by using a simple band of fabric and they were the bras of choice at that time. This particular bra has a brocade satin stitching, non-adjustable straps, a front garter hook and a hook & eye side closure, including the inspector tag! It is definitely new/old stock, may have some light colored stains on the body or hook/eye closure - these should launder out with some lingerie or oxy wash, but no guarantee on that. Storage marks and discoloration are quite common in vintage, even dead stock pieces. Sold as found, sized as a 32. I am calling this an B, hard to judge with no actual cup to discern from. My mannequin is a 34B and it fits her just fine.
